Nestled along the southern coastline of Bali, Nusa Dua is one of the island’s most prestigious resort areas. Located in the Badung Regency, it was master-planned in the 1970s to offer a high-end, tranquil retreat, combining luxury resorts, immaculate beaches, cultural experiences, and top-class facilities. History & Development

The transformation of Nusa Dua began in the early 1970s when the Indonesian government commissioned consultants (such as SCETO and PCI) to design a purpose-built resort enclave. The aim was to take an area which was largely under-utilised, land that had low rainfall and few surface water sources, and to develop it into a showcase for sustainable luxury tourism.

With land acquisition, infrastructure building, roads, utilities and hotel construction, Nusa Dua grew into a zone of international resorts, spa sanctuaries, golf courses, shopping centres, and convention facilities.

The Bali International Convention Center (BICC) is one of the major landmarks, hosting global conferences and events.

Attractions & Environment

Nusa Dua is famed for its white sand beaches, crystal clear shallow water, manicured gardens, and wide array of five-star resorts.

Another highlight is the Pura Nusa Dharma temple, built in 1948, situated on one of the small islands (“Two Islands” = Nusa Dua) just off the coast of the peninsula.

Accessibility is good: Nusa Dua is about 20 km south of Denpasar, and relatively close by road to areas like Jimbaran.
